HLTHPS006 - Assist Clients with Medication- HLTHPS006
This nationally recognised course is for individuals working in the disability sector as Disability Support Workers (DSW’s) who wish to develop skills in supporting people to self-administer medication and completion of medication documentation. The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand standards and industry codes of practice.
Individuals will need to demonstrate the following foundations skills which are essential to performance in the area involving preparation and provision of assisting clients with medication.
-Numeracy-to calculate and check correct dosage of medication, expiry dates and client information. This includes basic calculations of ratios and volume.
-Reading-To correctly check and interpret client information and dosage instructions
2 Days Face to Face workshop
Assessments will be conducted for the course using both theoretical and practical based assessment approach. The practical tasks will be real-life assessment tasks developed to assess the student against the course requirements. For the practical tasks a simulated environment will be used as the current legislation related to Disability Support Workers does not allow individuals to administer medications within a workplace environment if not suitably qualified. further more the Disability Services Medication Management framework, section 3.6 states that “disability Support Workers do not administer medications until training has been competed and they are deemed competent”.
Workshop dates are subject to change and minimum & maximum numbers and Students are required to wear appropriate clothing including pants and enclosed shoes.

For any cancelations made more than 48hours prior to the course an administrative fee of $20.00 will apply. For any changes to any course booking made within 48 hours a refund cannot be issued.
