The First Aid and LVR course is essential if you are conducting live work or working with live switchboards. Â The course covers the performance of rescue procedures from a live Low Voltage (LV) apparatus, not including overhead lines and underground cables in the workplace.
It specifies the mandatory requirements of rescue from a live LV panel and how they apply in the context of transmission, distribution or rail work functions. Â It encompasses responsibilities for, health, safety and risk management processes at all operative levels and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work.
Completing the course will provide an individual with the skills and knowledge to carry out and complete the LV panel rescue procedures and to perform first aid (including CPR) on a casualty in a range of situations. It consists of real-life practical skills and knowledge to allow the participant to be assessed as competent in providing CPR in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines as well as rescue procedures from an LV apparatus.
Low voltage rescue comprises responsive operations that involve the saving of life, or prevention of injury during an incident or dangerous situation.
The delivery mode for this course is a combination of online learning, followed by face to face assessment. The online component takes approximately 3 hours and the face to face assessment 2.5 hours. Please note that all of the online learning must be completed prior to the face to face practical assessment.

This course is required for anyone who works on or near low voltage electrical equipment and needs both a current LVR and First Aid certificate. It’s commonly completed by electricians, electrical apprentices, data and telecommunications technicians, air conditioning and refrigeration workers, maintenance and facilities staff, solar installers, and anyone required by their employer or industry to hold both UETDRMP018 and HLTAID011 qualifications.
Yes. RTS Training delivers training and assessment on behalf of Allens Training Pty Ltd (RTO 90909). When you successfully complete the course requirements, you’ll receive a nationally recognised statement of attainment for UETDRMP018 Perform Rescue from a Live Low Voltage Panel, HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support, and HLTAID011 Provide First Aid.
Yes. If you already hold a current HLTAID011 Provide First Aid certificate and only need to renew your LVR, RTS Training offers a standalone CPR & LVR course that combines UETDRMP018 with HLTAID009 Provide CPR, which is a shorter option for those who don’t need the full First Aid course.
The LVR component (UETDRMP018) has an industry-recommended renewal period of 12 months. The First Aid component (HLTAID011) is recommended for renewal every 3 years, while the CPR component (HLTAID009) is recommended for renewal every 12 months. Many workplaces and site requirements expect annual renewal for LVR and CPR, so it’s a good idea to keep both current.
The course combines online learning with a face-to-face practical assessment. You’ll complete approximately 3 hours of self-paced online learning before attending our Osborne Park training centre for an approximately 2.5 hour face to face practical assessment covering both the LVR and First Aid components.
Your face-to-face practical assessment is held at RTS Training’s Osborne Park training centre in Perth. The location is convenient for electricians and trade workers across Perth who need a combined LVR and First Aid course with online learning completed beforehand.
