Get Certified in RIIWHS202E MSMWHS217 – Confined Space and Gas Testing

This course set is designed for new and experienced personnel required to work in confined spaces and carry out gas testing of an atmosphere prior to entering a specific area or workspace in the resources and infrastructure industries at an operational level.

Participants will learn to distinguish what constitutes a confined space; key terminology; as well as understand the regulations and legislative requirements governing entering and working in and around confined spaces. Participants will identify hazards and emergencies, implement appropriate control measures; conduct risk assessments, and apply for a confined space entry permit. Atmospheric testing is an important component of confined space work as these working environments may be hazardous, unpredictable, subject to time pressure, chaotic and expose responders to risk, on land or water, by day or night. Workplace atmospheres may include visible and invisible hazards and hazardous surfaces.

Students will demonstrate how to enter, exit and work safely in a confined space according to an issued permit for two scenarios. Participants will also inspect and select appropriate personal protective gear; operate various confined space safety equipment including atmospheric testing/monitoring devices and interpret the results to take appropriate action; and conduct routine servicing of all equipment and gear.

The delivery mode for this course is online learning followed by face-to-face assessment. The online course takes approximately 3-4 hrs followed by 5 hr practical assessment.

Did my CPR and LVR refresher with RTS Training yesterday and couldn’t be happier with the course.
The trainer knew her stuff, kept it practical, and related everything back to real situations you might face on site. The training was hands-on, easy to follow, and there was plenty of opportunity to ask questions and get involved.
The facilities and equipment were excellent, and the whole course was run professionally from start to finish. It’s good to see a training provider focused on making sure people actually understand the skills rather than just ticking boxes.
Just completed my fire training here at RTS and also recently my LVR CPR! I definitely won’t be going to any other training company again. RTS is fantastic. It’s great that they allow you to work together and not just putting you on the spot! Today we had Yolanda, she was great at delivering the course material and practical sessions, applying great humour also which is a bonus! She’s super bubbly and made for a great morning!
Completed 2 courses over 2 days with John, great facility and delivery of the courses. Informative without it being death by powerpoint. I will definitely return to do any future courses and refreshers.
The best training facility I have ever used. The CPR dummies are very modern and up to date — not the old, worn-out ones that many other places still use. The trainers genuinely care about what they are teaching and are clearly passionate about helping people learn, rather than just treating it as a job.

My only criticism would be the automated email reminder system, which sometimes sends emails very late at night or early in the morning (around midnight to 2am). Other than that, the overall experience was excellent.
Attended RTS for the full whack of CPR, First Aid & LVR, our trainers were Monty, Tessa & Tash and they were phenomenal at delivering the courses & keeping it very engaging, friendly and with a good dash of humour! 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking to gain the knowledge or even to refresh, you’re in great hands to retain the knowledge to perform in a situation and gain the confidence to do it. Thank you very much it’s greatly appreciated!
I attended the LVR-CPR course on Thursday. The trainer was good overall, however during the LVR assessment a comment from another participant felt uncomfortable and seemed related to my accent as a non-native English speaker.
It would be great to ensure the learning environment remains respectful and inclusive for everyone. It might also help if trainers address this kind of situation when it happens.
I had the most incredible time! Trainer Tash is kind, empathetic and highly knowledgeable, she has an upbeat personality and an innate skill to teach what can be very distressing content in a sensitive manner – yet still making the course enjoyable. The knowledge I have learnt from her is incredible and I feel very grateful to have done the course!
Online learning is easy to access and well laid out. Lots of email reminders (sometimes useful sometimes too many), great physical learning space with high quality cpr manikins and equipment. For a course I have to complete every year, Tash made it more interesting than usual ! ☺️
I recently completed my Fire Training and Chief Warden Training at RTS Training, and I just wanted to say how fantastic Tess was throughout the entire day.

Tess was incredibly bubbly, enthusiastic, and engaging from the moment the session started. She made what could have been a very serious and heavy topic feel approachable and easy to understand, while still keeping everything professional and informative. Her energy really lifted the room and kept everyone involved.

She explained everything clearly, encouraged participation, and made sure everyone felt comfortable asking questions. You can tell she genuinely enjoys what she does, and that enthusiasm made the training not only educational but genuinely enjoyable.

Thanks, Tess, for making the day such a positive experience!
Did my firefighting course here..our instructor makes us involved in the activities. You’ll never noticed the time bcoz the course is enjoyable. Shout out to Tash our instructor thank you
OK, from the word go Tess was amazing. She explained everything thoroughly and was a little bit funny as well.\n The course was very intuitive.\n And I learnt a lot from discourse, I would thoroughly recommend anyone in any industry to learn how to use fire extinguishes correctly and to use the correct far extinguisher and the process. When a fire is present, please tell your boss you need to do this course
Thanks tess you’re great
Did my Fire Warden training at RTS Training ..
Always dread courses but I must say I actually enjoyed this one 🤗 Trainers were professional but also fun and made the whole experience engaging and comfortable. I had Tash & Jacklyn for the first half and finished with Tash. Would highly recommend their training skills and classes.
My husband and I were very impressed and could not speak more highly of our experience doing this course. It was an annual refresher and assessment. We were grateful to have done it and left feeling confident and grateful.
Completed the First Aid Training yesterday.
Was an enjoyable experience with Jacklyn a terrific instructor.
She is knowledgeable and experienced and answered all questions comprehensively. The class room was roomy with plenty of space and resources for everyone. Can highly recommend RTS for training.
The training was once again, concise but thorough. The pre-training was delivered in a easy to understand way, and the face-to-face training and assessment with Yolanda was excellent. I don’t love having to re-certify every year, but RTS makes the process pain-free. I’ll be back next year!
Completed my CPR/LVR, First attack Fire fighting and Working at heights. The courses were very informative and interactive. It was not lengthy but just useful information in them. All the trainers in my courses were very professional experienced. It was an overall great experience with RTS. Highly recommend them for blue collar trainings.
Completed my Advanced First Aid with RTS Training. The trainers were professional, knowledgeable, and very supportive. The course was well-structured and practical. Highly recommended.
i found the mixture of live scenarios and theory helped to cement the learnings in to my head.
The trainer, Tash, was informative and made the course interesting enough so that you focused on the content.
She had a great personality and ran an excellent course.
Great course! Completed their LVR/CPR course. Hour and a half online, hour and a half in class, perfect mix. The trainer (Jac) was amazing. Would definitely recommend.
Amazing training
Tess ( hopefully that’s her name ) was Amazing would not recommend anyone but her.
Thank you for an amazing course, if can rate 6 stars i would’ve so here you go ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Excellent facility to do your work place training. Informative, efficient and professional. No unnecessary fluff to waste your time. Highly recommended to everyone.
Did the training to demonstrate the first attack firefighting equipment. The course was very knowledgeable on the subject of first response to an emergency fire. The interaction in the class was two-way, getting all students involved in the exercise. I would strongly recommend training with RTS.
Efficient and straight to the point — one of the best courses I’ve done in Perth so far. No time wasted. The only improvement I’d suggest is making the online module shorter, or allowing repeat participants to skip directly to the quiz, since many of us complete this course every year.
fantastic, very very informative, professionally presented… very experienced and trainers. Easy to understand relate to the course content and importance as why training is essential to the mining industry from a safety perspective. The equipment was modern and up to as what is out in the field. A really good training facility, professionally presented from the admin counter to training room floor..A go to training provider for me..
I recently completed the CPR and Low Voltage Rescue course, and I can’t recommend it highly enough! The instructors were incredibly knowledgeable, breaking down complex procedures into clear, practical steps. The hands-on training was engaging, with realistic scenarios that built confidence in performing CPR and handling low voltage emergencies safely.
Excellent training session with intelligent and highly skilled trainer.
Jake the trainer was very knowledgeable and was able to answer any questions we had. He also had plenty of real world experience that made the training engaging. The practical activities were clearly explained.
Plenty of parking space. Well set up training areas. All staff are friendly.
I highly recommend this institution to anyone who wishes to work in the field of mining/construction.
Absolutely the best place to complete your training and tickets!
The team here goes above and beyond to make the learning experience engaging and enjoyable—not your typical boring class. The trainers really know how to keep things interesting and relevant. A special shoutout to Tess—she does an amazing job and is incredibly friendly and supportive. Highly recommended!
Working at heights, Confined space & Gas test atmospheres
We’ve had the pleasure of working with RTS Training for over 8 years, regularly sending our technicians to their training centre for various courses. Recently, we organised an on-site group training session at our Osborne Park office for the first time and it couldn’t have gone better.

Ben and John were incredibly helpful in accommodating our last-minute request due to unexpected weather disruptions, and Mike, who facilitated the training, was absolutely fantastic. He brought great energy, made the session enjoyable, and demonstrated extensive knowledge throughout.

We highly recommend RTS to any local businesses or companies seeking flexible, high quality on-site training options. Looking forward to continuing our partnership for years to come.
Excellent training session with intelligent and highly skilled trainers.
Plenty of parking space. Well set up training areas. All staff are friendly. Prices for courses are very affordable. On line components for those courses are backed up with easily reachable educators with just a phone call. I highly recommend this institution to anyone who wishes to work in the field of mining/construction.
Wonderful trainers! I will definitely be coming back in the future. Jake the trainer was very knowledgeable and was able to answer any questions we had. He also had plenty of real world experience that made the training engaging. The practical activities were clearly explained. Extra shout out to the other trainers John and Tash. All round, a great team. Thanks for all your help. I couldn’t recommend this company highly enough!
Great training, knowledgeable trainers. Easy parking and efficient processes. Been using for the last decade, can’t fault them. Trainers are always really nice and answer all questions, making you feel confident at the end.
